The Feeling We’re Designing Toward

We’re beginning a new project in Montecito—and from the start, our approach is rooted in the landscape, the architecture, and the pace of life here.

Montecito has a very specific energy. It’s relaxed but refined, sun-washed but layered, understated yet deeply intentional. Our goal with this project is not to impose a style, but to build something that feels inherently connected to its surroundings.

The color direction for this project is intentionally restrained. We’re working with warm whites and soft creams, earthy neutrals—sand, clay, and stone, and subtle moments of washed color, inspired by sky and sea. It’s less about contrast and more about tonal layering, creating a space that feels calm, continuous, and grounded.

Materiality is a major focus for us in this project. We’re prioritizing linen, wool, and other natural textiles, wood with visible grain and variation, stone surfaces that feel organic and slightly imperfect, handcrafted elements that bring in texture and depth. Nothing should feel overly polished. The goal is a home that feels like it has evolved over time, even from day one.

As with all of our projects, we’re approaching furnishing with a collected mindset. We’re layering vintage pieces with character and history, contemporary forms that add contrast, and sculptural objects, ceramics, and art that feel personal. We want the space to feel lived-in and individual—never staged or overly matched.

This project is still in its early phases, but the direction is clear quiet, layered, and deeply connected to place.

We’ll be sharing more as it develops—sourcing, materials, and the decisions that shape the space along the way.
